How eTapIT works

An eTapIT card is a physical card that opens your online profile. Here’s the whole journey, from choosing a card to keeping your details current.

    Choose a card

    Pick a finish that suits you, or a team pack for your colleagues.

    Place your order

    Check out online. Business and bulk orders go through an enquiry.

    Set up your profile

    Create your eTapIT profile and link the card to it. Activation steps are to be confirmed.

    Tap or scan to share

    Hold the card near a phone, or let someone scan its QR code.

    They view and save

    Your profile opens in their browser. They choose what to save.

  6. 06
    Update any time

    Change your details online. The same card keeps working.

What happens when someone taps your card

The card contains a small NFC chip that stores a web address (URL) for your eTapIT profile. When a phone that reads NFC comes close to the card, it shows a prompt to open that address. Tapping the prompt opens your profile in the phone’s browser.

The QR code on the card holds the same address. Pointing any phone camera at it opens the same profile, which is why the QR code works on phones that can’t read NFC.

Because the card stores a link rather than your details, changes you make to your profile appear the next time anyone opens it.

A tap does

A tap doesn’t

  • Save your contact automatically. They choose to save it.
  • Collect their details. They choose whether to share them with you.
  • Verify who you are, log anyone in or take payments
